At the end of 2013, Fosun Group announced at a press conference in Shanghai its plan to invest over 10 billion RMB in the next three years to build a hotel and ocean park – Atlantis – in HaiTang Bay, Sanya. The Atlantis Sanya project covers an area of 806 acres, combining hotel facilities with an ocean park, entertainment, shopping, distinctive cuisine, performances, exhibitions, and unique marine culture for a comprehensive ocean-themed experience. The main construction elements include a marine aquarium, a water adventure park, an underwater tunnel, dolphin conservation research, and 1300 luxury guest rooms.
Designed and constructed by AUPOOL, the transparent acrylic wall swimming pool is the result of extensive experience in designing and building acrylic wall swimming pools. The final design features two seamless joined acrylic walls, each measuring 85.3 feet in length, 0.4 feet in thickness, and 4 feet in height, creating a total transparent acrylic wall length of 170.6 feet.
